Choose HDAF for the filtration stage

HDAF is the separate air-filter component in the HDA modular range. It serves the particle filtration and liquid-condensate handling stage before downstream pneumatic equipment. It does not regulate pressure or introduce lubricating oil. Where filtration and regulation are both required, compare HDAW; where finer oil-mist treatment is specified, review a suitable mist separator as a separate stage instead of assuming that an HDAF element performs that function.

Select the grade and body size together

The standard filter element is 25 µm, with 5 µm and 50 µm options. Match the grade to the equipment’s requirement and verify flow and permitted pressure drop at the actual working pressure. Compare the body-size ports below, but do not use port size as a substitute for a capacity check. The catalogue lists 0.15 MPa minimum working pressure and a 1.0 MPa maximum.

Specify drainage for the actual installation

The catalogue distinguishes manual drainage on the 20 body and air-shutoff drainage on larger bodies, with an automatic-drain option shown in the ordering reference. Confirm the exact model and drain conditions before ordering. Plan an accessible discharge route and inspect it during operation. Automatic drainage still needs checking; condensate load, contamination and operating pressure can affect whether the selected drain serves the installation.

Plan bowl access and replacement parts

Install the unit vertically within the catalogue’s ±5° position limit and check the 5 to 60 °C ambient and fluid temperature range. Leave space below the bowl for draining, removal and element service, using the exact dimension drawing. Confirm bowl and protective-cover materials for the installation. Isolate and depressurize before opening the filter. Request replacement parts by the complete model and element specification, rather than by appearance alone.

Questions about HDAF.

Selection, installation and care for this product range.

How do the HDAF20, HDAF30 and HDAF40 ports differ?

HDAF20 offers 1/8 or 1/4 inch ports, HDAF30 offers 1/4 or 3/8 inch ports, and HDAF40 offers 3/8 or 1/2 inch ports. These are connection options; confirm the full ordering code, thread and required flow with the quotation.

Will a 5 µm HDAF element remove all oil mist or water vapour?

No such performance is established by the HDAF catalogue. Particle filtration, mist separation and drying address different requirements. Describe the contamination and required air quality so the appropriate treatment stages can be reviewed.

When should an HDAF element be replaced?

Follow the service instructions for the exact housing and element, including any interval or pressure-drop limit. There is no single replacement interval established by this selection catalogue. Inspect drainage and operating pressure when diagnosing restriction, and confirm a compatible replacement before opening the unit.

What information helps XMC select the filter?

Send the body size or existing model, port and thread, operating pressure and flow, required filtration grade, condensate conditions, drain preference, bowl requirements and quantity. A picture of the existing nameplate and installation can help identify a replacement.
