Combine filtration and pressure adjustment at the machine
HDAW combines a filter and regulator in one module, providing a starting point where a pneumatic circuit needs particle filtration and a set downstream pressure. It does not add lubrication. Confirm the air requirement of the connected equipment before specifying extra treatment stages. A filter-regulator is not an air dryer, and a micron rating alone does not establish an oil-mist removal specification.
Match port size to pressure and flow requirements
Compare HDAW20, HDAW30 and HDAW40 using the port options below, then check the required flow at the available inlet pressure and desired outlet setting. The catalogue lists a 0.05 to 0.85 MPa regulating range and a 1.0 MPa maximum working pressure. These limits do not guarantee a particular flow or pressure stability. Allow for pipe losses and check pressure while the machine is working.
Confirm the complete gauge and drain arrangement
The ordering reference includes square-gauge, round-gauge and embedded pressure-switch configurations, along with drain and bowl options. The K option is identified as a backflow configuration; confirm its suitability for the intended circuit and ordering code. Read the drawing for the exact supplied version, including the mounting position, space for the gauge and access below the bowl. Photos show a specific 30-size configuration.
Keep the filter and regulator service checks separate
Inspect condensate level and drainage, and check the element against its service instructions. When outlet pressure is unsatisfactory, compare the inlet and outlet readings under load before changing the setting. Restricted pipework, changing demand and a contaminated element require different checks. Isolate and depressurize the installation before opening the bowl or replacing parts; use the exact unit and element reference when requesting replacements.

How does HDAW differ from HDAF and HDAR?
HDAF provides filtration, while HDAR provides pressure regulation. HDAW combines those functions in one module. Choose the combined or separate layout after checking the circuit requirements, mounting dimensions and service access; neither arrangement automatically adds lubrication.
Does HDAW include a lubricator?
No. Where downstream equipment requires oil-mist lubrication, an HDAW and HDAL can form a two-piece HDAC A-family assembly. Confirm the lubricator’s minimum operating flow and the equipment manufacturer’s oil requirement before adding it.
Can HDAW replace a precision pressure regulator?
Select by the downstream pressure tolerance and the manufacturer’s performance data. The HDAW catalogue provides an adjustment range; that range is not a stated accuracy, repeatability or droop rating. For a precision task, send the required tolerance and operating flow for review.
Which details are needed to order an HDAW filter-regulator?
Specify body size, port and thread, operating flow, inlet pressure, required outlet setting, filter grade, drain, bowl/cover and gauge or switch configuration. Include quantity and installation dimensions. The 25 µm standard element has 5 µm and 50 µm options.
